Chapter 2: A Visit to Aurora
(Chandra & Keeja arrive at the city of Aurora. A large city where its inhabitants are of various species. )
Upon arrival, we stepped out of the Madam’s private mini hover bus. I looked around with delight. The Madam wasted no time she had to attend the meeting between her and a new costumer. According to the rumors, one of us girls will be sold to a new costumer and she will not be living at the Tower (brothel house) anymore. “Lara, you come with me.” She turned toward Keeja and I, “You two can enjoy yourselves shopping, but don’t forget to meet us at the Galaxia Café.” Keeja nodded and we walked off. The Merchant didn’t accompany us in the transporter, so I assumed that he would meet us at the café. The Madam smiled, turned and walked away. One guard walked close behind them and the other followed us. Lara’s long braided hair was adorned with colored beads in colors that were pleasing to the Merchant. Her chocolate colored skin glistened with body glitter that she rubbed on herself earlier in the morning. Body glitter is not an essential it is optional but the Madam encourages her women to wear body glitter to make us look more appealing to the costumers. Lara glanced back and scowled at me. Keeja turned back and stuck her tongue out at her. “Ignore her. Let’s go!” I told Keeja. Keeja skipped toward the guard and wrapped her arm around his. I followed and grabbed his other arm. The music in the Promenade was exotic and passionate. Keeja and I stopped at a shop that carried rare, one of kind items from other planets.
Keeja bought some jewelry and I was inspecting a pair of black knee high leather boots that I was think of buying. “Oh please buy them. “ He urged me. “They once belonged to a Ny’karin. A Val’urin guard killed him. I was unaware of whose boots they belong to until a friend of mine saw them and warned me that I should not have them around. The Ny‘karins might see them and I will be arrested or executed.” Keeja and I both shrugged because we didn’t know what he was talking about. I’ve heard of Ny’karins the Madam has mentioned them before in a casual conversation but she never went into detail about them. In fact, I believe a few months (oniths) ago a Ny’karin soldier came to the brothel house and requested services from one of the females. She was a Val’urin female like the Madam. I’ve never seen a Ny’karin soldier with a human female, not yet. “Should I buy them? What do you think?’ Keeja shrugged. “Go for it. You have nothing to lose.” I chose to purchase them. All the Madam’s girls have the privilege of charging all of our purchases to the Madam’s account. The shop owner really wanted to get rid of the boots so I bought them. The guard followed us everywhere except into the washroom. Later, after our feet grew weary, we headed for the café and waited.
We saw the Merchant walk in. He noticed us and came over to our table. Keeja stood up and bowed at him. Then she sat back down and glanced nervously at me because I refused to bow. “Chandra?” Keeja whispered, as she nudged me to bow. The Valurin guard noticed and walked towards us. He grabbed me by the arm and tried to force me to rise so that I can bow in front of the Merchant. “No, it’s not necessary. No harm was done,” the Merchant told the guard. Keeja gave me a nervous wide-eyed look and shook her head. Pleasure Girls are required to bow down in the presence of a valued customer.
It is a sign of disrespect if we fail to do so. The worst-case punishment is execution. He sat next to Keeja and signaled a servant to bring over the menu.
“What will you have?” he asked us while simultaneously scanning my appearance. “I’ll just take a cold beverage,” I responded, avoiding eye contact. Keeja ordered the usual lunch-a sandwich that rather resembled a veggie burger from Earth. It was made with wheat that is grown in the town of Py’lea on some farms.
The Merchant’s plate looked grossly inedible. Whatever it was, it did not look appetizing at all.
I noticed he had caught my stare. I quickly turned the other way. The Madam and Lara walked into the café. Lara‘s eyes widened in anger (jealousy) when she saw the Merchant sitting next to us.
“Ah, I see you have seduced my girls into lunching with you,” commented the Madam, as she and Lara approached our table. The Madam lightly squeezed his shoulder as she smiled at me. Lara shoved Keeja slightly over towards me, and she squeezed in between the Merchant and Keeja. She then draped her arms around the Merchant’s thick neck. “Did you miss me lover?” she asked with a sultry voice as she turned to see the expression on my face, which was emotionless. Personally, I wasn’t interested. He pushed her away gently. She looked a bit embarrassed by his actions. The guards waited outside the entrance of the café. The Madam began to talk about politics, which bored me. I asked to be excused.
In Chapter 3 after they did, more shopping they sat on an iron bench resting their feet. Keeja tells Chandra about what she overheard the Madam talking about to an unidentified person on her personal computer.
“Can we sit down on one of these benches or perhaps go into one of those other cafés?” asked Keeja. We walked over to one of the benches situated in the middle of the Promenade and sat down. “Why did the Madam bring us?” Keeja shrugged. “Perhaps, it has something to do with meeting Lord Sor‘an.” Keeja said, casually twisting a strand of hair between her fingers. “If that is true then why didn’t we see him at the café?” I said. She shrugged. The name sounds familiar to me. I have heard it before but I don’t’ know where, I thought to myself. “Do you know the penalty for eavesdropping?” I whispered to her. She turned around and looked at the guard who was a few feet away from us. She nodded. “Yeah, but I only heard that she was going to meet with Lord Sor‘an. I don‘t know if it was today. I didn’t hear that much.”
Chandra & Keeja notice that some humans are wearing collars around their necks.
As I scanned the Promenade, I noticed that almost all the humans were wearing collars around their necks the collars are silver thick chokers with Eur’laeuin symbols on them. The Madam’s ladies don’t wear collars we are branded with her initials in gold on our upper left thigh. The letters are in Va’lurin alphabet. I examined it and thought, is this any different? “Why do you suppose most of the humans are wearing collars?” I asked Keeja. “I heard that the Maujus (slave owners) force their servants to wear those terrible things. Those terrible collars are so unattractive, blah!” She stuck out her tongue in a disgusted manner. “They are less fortunate then us.” I added. She agreed.
Chandra & Keeja meet Carlos another human who works in a trinket shop
I turned and noticed an attractive human male stacking boxes outside of a shop. He was carefully placing them by the front door. “Look.” I pointed in his direction. “Maybe we should talk to him.” Keeja shook her head in disapproval. “Distract the guard,” I told her. “No, I will not help you get into trouble again. You know we’re not supposed to fraternize with other human males unless they are Royal Guards or if the Madam assigns them to us.
Besides, he seems kind of filthy.” Keeja pursed her lip and frowned. “We should get to know more about our fellow humans. What is life like for them? I’m sure his life is very different then ours. I also want to know what he remembers of Earth. The Madam has always given us the same story that her people saved humanity from a natural disaster and that is why we were brought here. However deep down inside I don’t buy it.” I stood up. “Well then, come with me.” I took her hand and we headed away from the guard to the shop. “Hey, where are you two going?” the Va’lurin guard called out. Keeja looked back, and giggled playfully. The guard smiled, shook his head and followed. As we approached, the human male looked at us with curiosity. His eyes widened with surprise. “Well, what do we have here?” he asked with a sly, flirtatious grin on his face. “I am Chandra and this is Keeja. We are Pleasure Girls. We belong to the Madam. She runs the brothel house called the Tower.” His smile widened, “Pleasure girls, huh. So what are you fine babes doin’ later?” He eased himself closer to us, looking back into the shop once in awhile to make sure that his Mauju (slave owner) didn’t see him fraternizing with other humans. He was wearing a pair of black trousers that were tucked into his knee high brown, dirty leather boots. His dirty sleeveless, beige shirt had a couple of rips in it along with food stains. His shirt was open down the front all the way to his navel and a wide dark green belt was wrapped around his waist. He kind of looked like a pirate--rugged, rough around the edges but, cute, sexy and attractive. He would actually be very handsome if he cleaned himself up. His skin was extremely tanned. He was athletically built. His beautiful hazel eyes gazed at Keeja and me, amorously. He had brown shoulder length hair that he wore back in a ponytail, it all added to his pirate look. He had a silver thick collar around his neck with Eur’laeuin symbols on it. I’ve heard that once the collar is on it‘s impossible to get it off.
“My name is Carlos.” He bowed to us. The guard was amused by Carlos’ formal introduction. He leaned on one of the pillars watching. “Come, sit with us.” I said, as I took his hand. We proceeded to walk back to one of the benches across from the shop. “Wait!” The guard said. “Please just let us enjoy this moment and we will have sex with you later.” Keeja said suggestively. Oh, of course, Keeja was bluffing but he didn’t know that. The guard scoffed, shook his head and smiled as he followed us back to the bench. I wouldn’t even dream of having sex with a Va’lurin male. I’ve heard stories about them. They are very rough and nasty. He stood a few feet from us watching. Keeja and I sat with Carlos on the bench. “The mauju I live with can be an asshole.” Carlos said, as he rubbed a bruise on his upper right arm. “Who’s the asshole?” he asked, as he looked at the guard. “He’s our body guard.” Keeja replied. Keeja and I both looked at him and realized how lucky we had been so far. Most humans haven’t fared as well. Some humans worked hard enough to buy their freedom. “I’ve never heard humans use those words before-- at least not at the Tower.” Keeja whispered to me. “Earth? What do you remember about your life?” Keeja asked, with a smile. “Well, I remember more than most.” This sounded interesting so I asked Keeja to distract the guard in the best way she thinks possible. The guard was watching us closely, but soon became briefly distracted by a scuffle at the other end of the Promenade. “Go ahead and distract him for a few minutes (pyn) while I talk to Carlos. It will be okay. I promise.” Keeja got up from the bench and wrapped her arm around the guard’s arm. That action startled him at first, but it worked. “When I was taken to the moon, Dyna (one of Eur’laeu’s moons) the physicians there they implanted me with a nano micro chip that suppress memory, and they work as universal translators too. However, they are also used to track us if we escaped. “Universal translator? What is that?” I asked. “The chip helps you understand the alien’s language. Helps you understand what they’re saying.” I was very intrigued by his story. “Well, as I and the other slaves were being transported to the planet Eur’laeu for auction a slave pirate ship attacked the transport ship. They killed the pilot and the rest of the crew. They took us to the continent of Lyvia on the planet Eur‘laeu. While I was there, I met this weird looking alien. He was some kind of changeling, a shape shifter of sorts. He said he would set my mind free and I would be able to remember everything that has been suppressed by the implant in my head only if I come with him to Avolea a place of sanctuary. I was intrigued and compelled to learn more.”
“So what do you remember? Do you remember Earth and--
“Shh.” Carlos interrupted as he placed his finger over his mouth and looked back at the guard. “The alien I met transformed into a slave dealer and we escaped. Therefore, I went with him to see a female Dryadian named Linnea. She lives in a forest called Avolea. It is a very remote area on the continent of Lyvia. “At first, I was skeptical, but I was so fuckin’ tired of the crap I was going through that I went along. I’d do anything for freedom. The creature took me to Avolea and we traveled through the forest for three days until we came across a remote clearing and I noticed a gate. He took me through the gated wall and I met Linnea. She had some kind of mystical powers because she cupped her hands on my head and I suddenly remembered everything. It was like electricity flowing through my head.”
I glanced toward Keeja and the guard. They were still busy. “Did Linnea ever explain why we have implants?” I asked him. “No. After she helped me remember, I was escorted out of the commune and I wandered through the forest and hills for many days after I left Avloea. A scout ship spotted me and I was taken to Ba‘kur where my Mauju (slave owner) bought me. My Mauju doesn’t know my implant is inoperable, at least not yet.”
(Later upon returning to the Tower Chandra finds out that she was sold to the Merchant (Xenos). News of who bought her spreads and Lara, the Merchant’s former lover, is infuriated. Lara & Chandra have an ugly confrontation. Both of them are restricted to their rooms. When the Merchant comes for Chandra, she says her goodbyes to the rest of the females at the brothel house and her best friend Keeja.
